April 19th, 2005

Device Tracy is currently not available.

I woke up this morning to find that three quarters of the white portion of my left eye was a rather disturbing blood red color. I drove to Ann Arbor and spent six hours in the Emergency Room, to be told that I had a subconjunctival hemorrhage, and that this condition looks much worse than it actually is. However, they also told me I would likely continue to have a lovely demonic red eye for the next one to three weeks.

I am about to go home, sit on the couch, and stare at the wall for hours, and then go to sleep. Sorry to miss you folks at Tios this evening, but I just don't have the energy tonight. If anyone's in the area and wants to wander by and visit, though, feel free to call. I just don't have the energy to drive.

Official Bid: Chairing PenguiCon in 2006.

I've given more thought to chairing in 2006, and I think it would be a good idea, both for me and for the convention. I need the challenge, and this is a battle I know how to fight well and win. And the two folks who had tentatively expressed an interest in being chair for next year have both withdrawn due to competing time commitments. Unless we get another strong candidate in the next few days, I'm probably it for next year.

I'm hoping to have the pieces in place to allow pre-registration this Sunday at PenguiCon, but I'm not sure I'll be able to make that happen in such a short window. If any of you would be willing to donate a few hours from your Sunday morning to collect names and contact information for people interested in pre-registering, though, let me know.
