As it all starts to become really real...

...I begin fraying around the edges. As if in sympathy, so does my life.

Here's hoping the oil change fixes the engine noise and occasional flicker of the oil light, and the car does not die.

Here's hoping the doctor tomorrow tells me that I have a simple skin rash with bruising because I just scratched it too damn hard, and no evidence that the cancer has traveled.

And here's hoping I can make my peace with the fact that, unless I become very, very stupid and run screaming away from necessary treatment, in eight days a near-stranger is going to remove an entire organ from my body.
